Dawn Steimer RobisonLicensed General Contractor
CEO of Master Custom Home Remodeling & Master Home Medic
Dawn Steimer Robison is a dynamo as a small business owner, radio show host, wife and mother. She is one of Knoxville’s few female Licensed General Contractors, as owner of Master Custom Home Remodeling, and hosts the radio show “Around the House” Saturday mornings on the News Talk 98.7. Along with Tim Jones, she has launched a new business beginning in January 2011, Master Home Medic, for home maintenance and repair.
Dawn hasn’t always been a contractor though. She was an optician in Michigan when she volunteered to chaperon a youth mission trip in 1987. On this brief adventure, she supervised seven high school students doing home repairs for an elderly and impoverished couple on an Indian Reservation in Tohatchi, New Mexico. The home needed new stairs, paint, and other minor repairs.
That was the spark that started it all, as she saw how the work they did made a real difference for this couple — it improved their quality of life. Today, her career is focused on making the same type of quality of life enhancement for homeowners throughout the East Tennessee area. Twelve years ago, she moved to Knoxville to start Master Custom Home Remodeling with her father, who is now retired from the business.
Despite a challenging economy, Master Custom Home Remodeling has enjoyed remarkable growth in each of the past three years, and will expand in January 2011, when she officially launches Master Home Medic, a division focused on home maintenance and repair.
Dawn was a single mother for 12 years, before she married Jim Robison in 2006. They live in Farragut and have four grown children.
